Jun 28, 2012 · I have a fiat grande punto 06 reg that has decided not to start. The immobiliser light is staying on. At first I thought it was the battery but the radio and windows work fine. Had it tested by a mechanic who could not get into the system he needed to. Believe its one of a few things; ecu fault, immobiliser fault, dodgy cable.

This is particularly hilarious on a bypass road at 80km/h at 4:30pm on a Friday. So you call up the dealer and give them the part number for one of the cables.

Most likely it is out of gas. they have a low pressure switch that cuts the power to the aircon pump (even when you turn the switch on) to prevent it damaging itself. Most systems, (used regularly as Scott suggests) will hold their gas for about 5 years or so - often more.
